Episode 9: “Rendezvous with the Past- Part I”

Previously on the Vampires in my Diaries

Despite Damon’s reluctance, Stefan and Jeremy agree to strike a deal with Silas but Stefan proposes to meet Elena once, to this Silas readily agrees...
Xoro and Lucy have a disagreement over bringing Bonnie back and giving her a strong and permanent foothold on the living side...
A message has been sent by someone from the other side which says that Qetsiyah is supposed to be escorted by someone from the other side; she isn’t the only visitor who will pay a visit to the side of the living once the veil is lowered...

“Was the message delivered to the side of the living?” Esther asked Linda.
“Yes, the message said it all that you wanted to say, Esther. I am sure they will make all arrangements for your visit to the other side. But, I do hope you understand what you are doing-”
“Yes, Linda. I know precisely what I am doing-”, Esther replied solemnly.

Silas, Jeremy and Stefan were driving in a car with Silas on the driver’s seat, Stefan on the seat next to him and Jeremy on the back seat.
“Who is it that you wanna talk to on the other side, anyway? Is it your vindictive girlfriend Qetsiyah??” asked Jeremy.
“You will get to know that very soon, hunter. By the way, unlike our times, I must say... the people of this century have no patience at all-”, replied Silas.
“Speaking of patience, Silas... I have been very patient ever since I saw you walk through the door of my house. You see, I have every reason not to help you and to want you dead myself because you tried to kill me by locking me up in that safe and tossing the same in the quarry where I almost starved to death for three months-”, Stefan spoke for the first time.
“I understand why you’re mad at me, Stefan. But, why do you think I am any different from any one of you or you are any different from me?? Let me ask this, had I been lying calcified would you not have tossed me into the quarry and gotten rid of me once and for all? That was the whole reason why you went to the quarry that night. You led me to the quarry, I didn’t lead you, don’t you remember? Now tell me what choice did I have left other than to... well... you know-” Silas left the statement unfinished on purpose. Stefan thought for a while and for the first time, he felt that Silas wasn’t very unlike them. All this time, all Silas had ever wanted was to die at Bonnie’s hands and pass on to find peace.
“Stefan, I am not as evil as history has made me look in the stories that have passed on generations after generations for two thousand years. It was but a story that I guess Qetsiyah made up all by herself so that everyone who hears of me, would hate me. I just loved a girl and by what I could feel right now I could say... I loved Moira as much you love Elena-”

“Grams, how do the dead supernatural beings interact with the living on the other side?” Bonnie asked Sheila.
“They can’t. That’s the whole point of the other side. If the dead species were given a free reign on this side, each one of them would try to interact with the living on the other side... some out of love, some out of boredom, while most others out of vengeance. I’m sure you understand that, child-”
“Yeah, I’m sure they would. But what if someone wishes to relay some very important message from here to the other side? Could it be done in some way?”
“I see what you’re trying to do, Bonnie. There is one way. Often many living witches invoke the dead witches from this side for guidance and help. Some of them even do it on a daily basis. If you want, you could pass the message through one of such visitors. But, you have to be very careful of who you choose as your messenger. Qetsiyah, however, doesn’t appreciate such acts-”, Sheila replied. Just then, Qetsiyah made an appearance from behind them.
“Might I know, what kind of acts do I not appreciate, Sheila? Well... one of them is certainly making unsubstantiated comments about me. But you’re well aware of that, aren’t you?” Qetsiyah spoke in a tone of annoyance.
“I must go, Bonnie-”, saying so, Sheila left immediately.
“Grams, wait.... Grams, I-”, Bonnie called but Sheila never stayed a minute.
“What is it about you that frightens everyone out here?” Bonnie asked Qetsiyah in rage.
“You’ll get to know that eventually. Now, Bonnie, should we continue with the story?”, Qetsiyah said smilingly.

Silas swiftly parked the car outside a house. The three of them- Stefan, Jeremy and Silas got out of the car.
“We’re here-”, said Silas.
“And where is here exactly?”  asked Stefan.
“This is my home. Well not technically, but for now... It’s where Elena is. Come on. I’ll show you how big my house is”, said Silas with a smile as he led them inside his home. Jeremy and Stefan were finding it hard to believe that Silas was actually keeping his end of the deal, no strings attached. They, however, followed Silas into the house without question. Silas opened the door and stepped inside while Jeremy and Stefan waited outside.
“Why did you stop, Stefan? Oh, I’m so sorry. The vampires can’t get inside unless invited in. Well you see, this house isn’t mine as I mentioned earlier and the owner isn’t dead yet so...”, Silas spoke and grinned.
“Silas, enough with your drama, okay? I’m sure you remember that I am not a vampire and I can get past the threshold without any invitation. And don’t forget you need my help. So I am not helping you unless you invite Stefan in”, Jeremy warned. Just then a girl came to the door and stood beside Silas. She was in her late twenties; dark complexion, curled hair and big black eyes. Silas smiled at her to which she smiled back.
“Meet Joanna, the owner of the house. Sweetheart, please invite the guests in-”, Silas said to her humbly.
“Please come in. I hope you have a pleasant stay...”, she said with a smile.
“Well, thanks but... we’re not here to stay”, said Jeremy as Stefan and he stepped inside the house.
“This way, Stefan”, said Silas as he led them to a bedroom in the corner.
Stefan saw Elena lying on the bed. One could notice a fresh bump on her forehead where blood seemed to have clotted internally. He could hear her breathe which proved that she was alive.
“Elena!” Stefan called. He tried to get inside the bedroom but he couldn’t. It was like someone owned that bedroom and that he needed to be invited in.
“What the hell?” Stefan was shocked. Jeremy was infuriated at this act of Silas and he tried barging in but even he couldn’t get past the opened door.
“Why can’t I get inside? What did you do, Silas?” Jeremy asked.
“Oh, I didn’t do anything. Joanna did. Did I fail to mention that Joanna is a witch? Well, you guys wanted to make sure that Elena was okay. She’s right in front of you- a breathing, sleeping beauty. I kept my end of the deal, now it’s your turn, hunter”. Stefan lost his temper and grabbed Silas’ throat. Silas caught hold of both his hands and freed himself with ease.
“Unlike you, Stefan... I take human blood. I am stronger than you can think. You try this again, Elena dies... Now come on, Jeremy. I don’t have all day-”
“Jeremy, you go with him. I’ll stay with Elena-”, Stefan said to Jeremy.
“I’m afraid, I can’t allow that. Ting ting...Visiting hour’s over-”
“Silas, you’re a dick... do you know that? Whom do you want to talk to, anyway?” Jeremy asked Silas.
“It’s someone I love very much-”, replied Silas.

“How can I be even sure that you’re not lying? How can I know you’ve not made this up... this whole story of yours?” Bonnie asked Qetsiyah.
“Because I haven’t-”, came the reply.
“Well... while you were gone for that counselling with the elders thing, I was kind of speculating... about your story... like what would have happened next...” said Bonnie. She believed she had figured out the rest of the story.
“So what do you think happened?”
“It’s quite simple. You and Silas together made the cure for Moira. She healed. You fell in love with Silas but he fell for your sister Moira. But you could not bear that... so you killed your own sister out of envy-”, Bonnie’s blatant words shocked Qetsiyah and she couldn’t speak for a few minutes. Her brows constricted and she turned away. Tears were rolling down her cheeks as she slid back to the past.

2000 YEARS AGO

Qetsiyah and Silas were taking a walk in the beautiful gardens of The Palace of Alexandria.
“I am more than grateful for your visit to our city and for your noble assistance in saving my sister’s life. All the people of the city of Alexandria are grateful for your act of benevolence, Prince Silas-”, said Qetsiyah humbly.
“I am more than overwhelmed. But please do not address me as prince. Call me Silas-”, Silas replied with a smile.
“So Ketsiya, were you born in Alexandria?”
“It’s Qetsiyah and not Ketsiya... And yes, I was born here. My mother, however, hails from Babylonia-”
“No wonder why you speak Aramaic so fluently. Your mother must have taught you the dialect?”
“Yes. She and I choose to recite spells in Aramaic. Even our grimoires are put down in Aramaic like our ancestors’. Silas, do you keep a grimoire too?” asked Qetsiyah.
“Yes, I do. Only, I put down my spells in Latin”, he replied smilingly. Qetsiyah kept looking at him. His charming face and captivating smile caught her in some sort of trance, like she had been spell-bound to him by someone anonymous. She had begun falling in love with him and his noble, unselfish heart but she chose to keep her feelings to herself for now. She was so lost in staring at her new-found love, that she couldn’t hear her handmaiden’s repeated humble calls until Silas had to touch her and bring her back from her world of trance.
“Qetsiyah!” said Silas. As he touched her, the trance ended.
“Huuh....”, Qetsiyah gasped as she slid to reality.
“Your...uhh... handmaiden here says that we have been called to the court. I see my mother, Queen Andrea, has finally graced my plea and she has come to visit me here at your palace”, said Silas. There was a shimmer of joy in his eyes as he spoke about his mother.
“I apologise for my absenteeism. Did you say that your mother is here?”
“Yes, she is”, he said with an effortless smile.
“It seems that you love your mother a lot. It shows in your eyes while you speak of her...”, Qetsiyah added.
“I do though I presume, she loves me more...”
Qetsiyah slid back to the present as Bonnie touched her.
“Qetsiyah, Qetsiyah... are you... okay?” Bonnie asked Qetsiyah.
“Huh... yes, absolutely. Just a thing I remembered from the past. So do you want to hear the story or not?” Qetsiyah asked.
“I would but there’s someone here who wants to talk to you...”, Bonnie said, leaving the way for a lady. The woman was dressed in a long silk gown that swept the floor as she walked away from the darkness into the light to show her face. The woman was an exquisite beauty even in her late forties.
“Queen Andrea???” Qetsiyah was stunned. A strange fear gripped her and for the first time she shivered from top to bottom. Bonnie couldn’t understand the cause of Qetsiyah’s apprehension.

“Greetings, Qetsiyah. Well, I am no longer the Queen now. We haven’t seen much of each other for the past two thousand years but I am happy to know that you haven’t forgotten me-” Andrea spoke in her usual tone of authority.

Silas and Katherine were still on their little road trip. Silas was still wearing Stefan’s face. He was at the wheels while Katherine sat by his side.
“You’re pretty good at this driving thing, Silas... considering you’re a two thousand year old... man who was locked up in a tomb for most part of his life. Tell me when did you learn to drive the luxury ride of the twenty first century?” Katherine spoke with a contempt muffled tone of appreciation.
“Well, I didn’t figure it all by myself if that’s what you’re pointing at. I have had training, you know, from a man with the expertise-”, he replied.
“So you’re telling me that you actually went for a four-wheeler training here in Mystic Falls? And where did you get your license from?” asking so, she chuckled. Silas deferred from answering. He had a very solemn look on his face. The silence that followed, made Katherine a little conscious and she decided against making any more contemptuous statements. After a while, she broke the uneasy silence.
“So, Silas... what did you call Jeremy for? Since when does the immortal Silas make deals with a mortal hunter? And why??”
“Come on, Katherine. I’ve made a deal with you too. Aren’t you mortal now? And what is it... is that fear I’m smelling on you?”
“No, Silas. It’s called curiosity and healthy scepticism. You promised me that you’d protect me from my enemies in Mystic Falls and in return I’ll help you with all your diabolical plans... But lately, all of those plans you seem to keep to yourself. I need to know what you have actually thought for me ’cause I really am in some serious doubt about you keeping your end of the deal-” Katherine spoke with fear and paranoia.
“And what makes you doubtful about me?”
“You just struck some bizarre deal with one of my enemies. Jeremy Gilbert. Did you forget I killed him in the process of waking you up from that tomb? Plus, I got him to jail on some fake charges only recently. He will kill me the minute he has a chance. I’m asking you again, Silas. What exactly have you planned for me??” The air of rage and dominance in her voice got on Silas’ nerves this time and he immediately applied the brakes. The wheels came to a screeching halt by the side of the road.
“Well.... Katherine, you see... I can’t exactly tell you what all I have in store for you. But right now, I really need you to stay put for a few hours-”, saying so Silas banged her head at the side of the car. There was a loud thud. Katherine fell unconscious almost instantly; a rill of dark red blood flowing from her forehead which slowly made its way past her cheek.
“Huuh... that was simple. Now, I could really put you to good use-”, he said with a smile. He sat there motionless for a couple of minutes, planning out his next move.

“You’re not actually thinking about making a stupid deal with Silas, are you?” Damon was almost shouting at Jeremy. Jeremy had come to the Salvatore mansion to tell the Salvatore brothers about the call he had received a couple of hours ago. Damon and Stefan were sitting on the couch by the fireplace while Jeremy was standing before them.
“Damon, I understand. But you have to understand that this could be our one shot at saving Elena and I would do anything to save my sister’s life-”, Jeremy replied resolutely.
“Trust me, Jer. We will figure out another way to save Elena. Silas isn’t someone we can trust. As of now, we don’t even know what is it that he wants from you-”, said Damon.
“Damon’s right, Jeremy. We can’t trust Silas-”, seconded Stefan.
“Well you could trust me this time, Stefan”, said Silas as he appeared walking right through the opened main door. He was still in Stefan’s looks. Damon at once sped to him and grabbed Silas’ throat.
“Hello, Mr. Shapeshifter. Give me one good reason why I don’t get to end your miserable life right now”, Damon was speaking to Silas. Silas freed himself with ease and in no time.
“And what on earth makes you think you stand so much as a petty little chance against me??” retorted Silas.  He caught hold of Damon’s hands and started crushing them; Damon’s bones started cracking with each twist.
“Aghhh..... ugghhhhh...”, Damon cried of pain.
“Leave him, Silas. Let him go-”, said Stefan. Silas stared into Damon’s eyes for some time and then pushed him away.
“If we’re past old grudges now should I propose the deal?” asked Silas.
“By all means. Go ahead-”, said Jeremy.
“I want Jeremy to come with me-”, Silas couldn’t complete as Damon intercepted him,
“Jeremy is not going anywhere. You could shove your ass out the door-”
“Why do you want to take Jeremy with you? What is it that you want with him?” asked Stefan.
“I know that this hunter, has a gift. I want to make good use of it-” replied Silas.
“What gift?? What the hell are you talking about??” asked Jeremy.
“You can see dead supernatural beings... talk to them. Well, I need you to talk to someone from the other side for me-”, revealed Silas.

Lucy and Xoro were discussing about how to keep Klaus in check and where to put his unconscious body.
“I believe we should keep him here at your home until the ritual and then we’ll start working on the Originals. I’ve put a spell on him that would keep him asleep at least for a couple of days, I presume. Could you find a good place for him here?” saying so, Xoro looked around to find a suitable corner for Klaus’ body. His eyes stopped at the sight of a deep freezer.
“I think the freezer would be a perfect refuge for him-”, he said and began dragging Klaus’ body toward the freezer. Lucy felt a shiver of apprehension. She had been keeping Bonnie’s body inside the deep freezer to prevent it from degenerating. She blocked Xoro’s way by standing in front of him.
“Ahh... wait! I don’t really think this house would be... ughhh... that better an option. Why don’t we keep him with Rebecca and Matt in the Lockwood cellar? This... this is my friend Stacy’s house and... and she may return from her vacation any time in a couple of days... and once she does, moving this body might be... a problem-”, Lucy was fumbling while making up a false story.
“I don’t think moving Klaus’ body would be a problem. We will take care of that later even if your friend is back. Your friend’s a human after all. We’ve dealt with much worse, don’t you think? Besides, I don’t think keeping Klaus with Rebecca would be a good idea. It will only serve to instigate her against us... even more than it already has. Moreover, I don’t think we have time to deviate our attention. I think we should concentrate on the ritual. Now, if you’d allow me-”, said he. He kept moving toward the freezer, dragging along Klaus mercilessly. He opened the top cover of the freezer and was shocked at the frozen and ice-covered corpse of Bonnie Bennett.
“Holy Jesus!” he exclaimed. Turning to Lucy, he continued,
“What is this?  You have some serious explaining to do-”

“Jeremy is not going anywhere... not with you, he is not-”, Damon continued persistently.
“So far, I have been generous enough to offer you all a deal. You don’t want to try my bad side, do you?” threatened Silas.
“Fine. But, there is something you will have to do before we let Jeremy go. We would like to see Elena and once we are sure that she is okay, Jeremy will help you talk to... whoever the hell you want to. So if you’re agreeable...”, Stefan couldn’t complete as Silas intercepted him.
“I don’t see why that should be a problem. But I could take only one of you Salvatore brothers to Elena and I would like that to be you Stefan. I’m sure you’ll understand why I don’t want it to be you, Damon. I guess I wouldn’t want to see your face any time again today or ever...”, Silas said with a smile.
“Alright, let’s roll”, said Stefan.
“But if any one of you tries anything, Elena won’t live to see another sunset. I promise you that-”, warned Silas to which Stefan nodded in agreement. Next, the three of them made their way out of the Salvatore residence.  Damon, left alone, tried hard to see his way through Silas’ deal.
“What the hell is this ex- Man of Rock up to?” Damon spoke to himself.

“Why are you preserving Bonnie’s body? Answer me-”, Xoro was shouting at Lucy. Lucy remained silent for a long while. She finally spoke,
“I want to bring back Bonnie from the other side. When we lower the veil partially on the full moon night, I want Qetsiyah and Bonnie both to cross over to this side... our side. Bonnie didn’t deserve to die... not at such young age, she didn’t-”
“And who are you to make that judgement? You will disturb nature’s balance by bringing back the dead”
“We both are disturbing nature’s balance, Xoro. Qetsiyah isn’t supposed to cross over either-”
“No, but she has a good reason to. Lucy, who else do you think is powerful enough to take down Silas once and for all? Besides, she isn’t coming to stay. But you... you intend to keep Bonnie here for all times, don’t you? That’s why you’ve chosen her own body as her vessel on this side too-”
“Yes. If Bonnie repossesses her own body once she crosses over to this side, she will get a permanent foothold on this side. She wouldn’t need to go back to the other side-”
“I can’t let you do that.....”, Xoro couldn’t finish as one of the tribesman came rushing to them. He was gasping for breath.
Co rahsha dalam?” Xoro asked him.
Ketsiyah inne paygaam laafi. Shohfe veeete rohtezam-”, replied the tribal witch.
“Well... what is he saying in Armaic?” Lucy asked Xoro as she was unable to decipher the ancient language.
“We have received a message from the other side”
“Message?? What message??”
“The message says, Qetsiyah isn’t coming alone. There is someone who is going to escort her to this side.  We will have to make arrangements for two visitors now. Lucy, are you coming with us?”

Episode 7: “Deal With The Devil”

“I hope that should settle the matter, sisters? You all may leave now-”, Qetsiyah asked the elder witches to disperse. There were about a dozen of witches- each one of different hues and color, different shapes and stature. They all left the court at once with the exception of Esther who stood there.
“Esther, if you have something else to discuss and unless that something is not of extreme urgency I think it will have to wait. You see, with what little time I have on this side I have a fairly long story to complete-”, saying so Qetsiyah made a move to exit the court.
“I understand, Qetsiyah. But, I’m afraid that the matter only concerns your visit to the other side-”, said Esther courtly.
“And what might it be?”
“Qetsiyah, do you remember that I once made a visit to the other side in order to kill my own children?”
“Yes I do remember. Truthfully speaking, I even learned some lessons from your story of failure.... Your children are nothing but abominations. They call themselves The Originals, don’t they?” asked Qetsiyah curtly. Esther nodded gently. She was filled with shame and regret.
“I failed because... because I wasn’t powerful enough to take them down. Not without the help of the witches of the Bennett line...your bloodline. So when they cut me out-”, Esther couldn’t complete as Qetsiyah intercepted.
“I know the story, Esther. What are you trying to suggest here?”
“My children... The Originals are nothing as compared to Silas. So in order to take down Silas you would need help-”
“Did you just draw a comparision of my powers with yours on the basis of the story of your failure? Are you implying that I will fail just like you did?” Qetsiyah asked with contempt in her tone.
“No, Qetsiyah. All I’m implying is that you should learn just one more lesson from my failure... there should always be an alternative plan thought of... just in case...”
“And what makes you think that I don’t have an alternative plan already?” Qetsiyah smiled while Esther was left perplexed.

“Excellent, Katerina! I now have to go somewhere but you will not leave until I tell you to-”, Klaus compelled Katherine.
“None of my business but... where are you going?” she asked.
“Well... there’s a new Bennett witch in town. I should probably go and say hi-”, saying so Klaus departed closing the door after him. Katherine, not finding any source of amusement around, jumped onto the cushiony bed and closed her eyes for a short nap. Hardly had she enjoyed a minute of slumber when the door opened. She woke up in fright.
“Klaus? What happened? Left your wallet here?” Katherine chuckled.
“It’s me... Silas. I am here to help-” said Silas. He was appearing as Klaus. Katherine was left perplexed; her brows constricted in a frown.

The door bell rang a couple of times. Lucy answered the door.
“Hello, witch-”, Klaus greeted her.
Niklaus....” Lucy gasped. “How did you know where I live? Right... Katherine”
“Yes. I understand she’s your partner in crime? Now how unwelcoming does it look keeping a guest at the threshold and not inviting him in-”, he smiled.
“Oh, I don’t know... but what if the guest was your enemy?” asked she.
“And why would you think that I’m your enemy?” Klaus was surprised. Lucy couldn’t think what to say or do for a few minutes. Finally, she made up my mind.
“Come on in. I think it must be getting cold out there-”, she invited him in smilingly.

“So Klaus compelled you?” Silas asked Katherine.
“May be. I cannot say if he did. I’m not a vampire with privileges anymore, remember?” she replied curtly.
“Well then I’m guessing you would have already spilled the beans. In that case, we don’t have much time. I want you to come with me right now-”, said he and started leaving. But Katherine didn’t move.
“I can’t... I can’t leave-”

“Why?? What’s wrong? Oh, no... you have been compelled. You cannot escape”, Silas deduced.

“I understand you and your other witch friends from Haiti want to bring Qetsiyah from the other side to put down Silas? So I’m here to offer my contribution for this noble cause-”, Klaus explained.
“And what do you have to offer?”
“I have something you would need to lower the veil-”, he replied confidently. Lucy thought for a moment before she could guess what it was that Klaus was talking about.
“You have Silas’ tombstone-”, she inferred.
“Well... I don’t have it now but I know who had it and where it is now-”
“That must be Katherine again...” said she. Klaus only smiled in reply.
“But how can you say that we need the tombstone for the spell? Since when does a vampire know about the ingredients of a witch’s spell?”
“My mother was a witch if you do not know. However... it wasn’t too difficult to figure out about the key ingredients of this spell. A little bit compulsion did the trick. When Katherine told me she was working with witches I only wondered what it was that made the witches strike a deal with a vulnerable human Katherine. So I asked her and she was obedient enough to blabber-”
“You are smart. I’ll give you that but not smart enough-” replied Lucy as she started incanting a spell repeatedly.
Aasmaantos illerra erranimum Aasmaantos illerra erranimum
Klaus fell to his knees.
“Aaghhhh... what are you doing?? Uggghhhhh”, he cried of pain. The blood in his brain nerves started boiling giving him unbearable headache.
Just then Xoro appeared in the room. He had been listening to this conversation from the other bedroom of the house. He grabbed Klaus’ head and twisted his neck violently. With a cracking sound, his neck broke and he fell on the floor unconscious.
“No more deals with vampires. Now we have all we want-”, said Xoro in a tone of victory.
“So you could read his mind?” Lucy asked Xoro.
“Yes. When I touched his forehead, I saw the exact location where the tombstone is kept-”, admitted Xoro. They both smiled looking at each other.

Silas and Katherine were riding in a car with Silas at the wheels and Katherine beside him.
“You could drop the Klaus look now. I don’t think we’d need that anymore. Speaking of... would you ever show me what you actually look like?” Katherine asked Silas. Suddenly, Silas changed his appearance and resorted to Stefan’s face.
“Oh, no... not again!” Katherine gasped in disappointment.
“What?? Isn’t this the face that you once loved??” Silas asked smilingly. Katherine refrained from replying. Silas continued,
“Anyways... I couldn’t understand one thing. One moment you were compelled not to leave Klaus’ guest room and all of a sudden the compulsion wears off just like that?”
“Yes, that was strange. I mean an original’s compulsion is the strongest and it doesn’t wear off unless.... unless something awful has befallen the original. Oh my God, does that mean Klaus is dead???” Katherine chuckled at the thought.
“Well, isn’t he an un-killable?” asked Silas.
“Not exactly-”, she replied. Silas waited for Katherine to elaborate but she revealed no more. After a long drawn silence Silas took out his cell phone and began dialling a number.
“Who are you calling?” she asked but Silas never bothered to reply.

“Hey, hunter. This is Silas. I have an offer for you. You help me and I will hand over your sister Elena. So what do you say?? Do we have a deal???” he spoke over the phone.

On the other side of the veil Esther and Linda were talking to each other.
“Esther, so did you talk to Qetsiyah?” asked Linda.
“Yes, I did but only to be left bewildered to make my own assumptions-”, replied Esther. She looked anxious and worried.
“You should tell Qetsiyah that you want to try again. You failed once but that doesn’t mean you will always fail. I appreciate what you’re trying to do, Esther. It takes a lot of courage to kill your children with your own hands-”, said Linda as she placed a comforting hand on Esther’s shoulder.

“My children died a thousand years ago when I turned them into vampires. They are nothing but abominations now. I must put an end to what I started a thousand years ago. I must wipe out the history of Vampirism which is why I need to go to the other side once the veil is lowered... I need to try a second time-”

Episode 6: “Ghosts Of The Past”

“Look who’s back? The hero of the story...”, Damon welcomed Stefan. Sheriff Forbes accompanied him to the Salvatore residence.
“Thank you, Sheriff Forbes. I owe you one. Come, sit. What would you like to have- coffee or soda?” Damon spoke to Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes.
“No, nothing. Thank you, Damon. I’ll let you two brothers have the moment and celebrate to the occasion. But... now that we know Silas is in town. And that he could look like anyone I do hope that you will find a way to deal with him?”
“We will, Sheriff. Well, there was one last thing that I’d like if you could help us with-”, requested Damon.
“I understand what you’re getting at. I have already got some of my men looking for Elena. But all this is off the town county records. I hope you understand why-”, she replied.
“Of course. As I always tell you, Liz. You’re my favourite Sheriff in town-”, Damon smiled at her. She smiled back and left.
“So... it seems I have a lot to catch up on? Well, why don’t you start telling me what did I miss while I was gone all summer?” Stefan spoke for the first time.

The door bell rang at the Sheriff Forbes residence. Caroline answered it.
“Jeremy, is everything okay? Come on in-” Jeremy came inside.
“Caroline, I am sorry. I should have called before dropping by-”, he said.
“What... no? No... It’s perfectly fine. Tell me-” she spoke humbly.
“There’s something you should know. It’s about Bonnie-”
“Wait... is she back?” there was excitement in her tone.
“No, no. She... ughhh... she isn’t back. I didn’t mean to keep this from you or anyone on purpose. It was something she asked me to do-”, Jeremy was speaking solemnly.
“Jeremy, what is it? You’re scaring me??”
“While Bonnie was doing the spell to bring me back she disrupted the nature’s balance. But nature found a way of finding a balance. I came back alive but... uhh...but  she... she died-”
“What? Jeremy, if this is some kind of joke then it’s definitely not funny. How could you... how could you even say that?” she was filled with disgust.
“I too wish it were a joke, Caroline. But-” he couldn’t finish as Caroline slapped him with all her might.
“Just because you are Elena’s brother, don’t you dare think I would forgive you for everything... This is Bonnie we are talking about.... ughh... God... how could you even say that?” Caroline was disgusted at the thought.
“Because it’s only true-”, replied he with tears in his eyes.

“She’s desiccating. I think she has to feed just so that she lives till the new moon. We need her for the sacrifice and as such what good a doppelganger would be without blood when her blood is exactly what we need-” Lucy was speaking to Xoro. The voices brought back Elena from her long wrteched slumber. She had been hallucinating for days now.
“Aah... Damon, is.... is that you?” Elena tried hard opening her eyes to have a look at them. But her vision was hazy and her throat had dried up to the extent that she was finding it hard to speak.
“As ironic as it might sound... but yes... we need her to live before she dies”, Xoro smiled.
“Ekraame ikhwaneesh qurbaa-”, he spoke to one of his follower in Aramaic. The tribesman extracted his dagger from around his primitive waist band and moved toward Elena. He fell to his knees and made a deep cut in his palm.
“Aghhhh”, he cried of pain. The smell of fresh blood spill made Elena crave for blood; her eyes turned red like a monster. The tribal witch volunatrily offered his palm to Elena. She grabbed his wrist at once with her chained hands and started feeding while he groaned in pain.

“Silas? So how did he... I mean... what was the cure?” Bonnie asked.
“Aren’t you a curious girl? We will get to the cure but before that you need to know a lot of things about us... about Silas-”, explained Qetsiyah.
“I know that Silas was a witch just like us. Was he not?”
“Yes, he was. He was a true blood-”
True blood? Does that even mean something really? All my life I believed it’s just the name of a poor novel I read-”, Bonnie chuckled.
True blood means that both his mother and father were Witches... very powerful witches and that was something that made Silas a very powerful witch. He could do such spells alone which we couldn’t perform without channelling powers from other sources like nature or another witch-”
“Are you telling me that this is why he was the only one who could save Moira? Because he was an all powerful witch?”
“True bloodline definitely made him powerful. Very powerful indeed. But nature’s laws do not bend for anyone. There are certain spells which cannot be performed by a single witch no matter how powerful he or she may be. The Lord hasn’t bestowed so much power on any creature let alone the witches. For if we had all the power in the world then keeping the witches in check would be a very difficult chore, don’t you agree, Bonnie?”
“Right. So you mean Silas could make the cure but the manifestation of the cure required channelling powers? He couldn’t do it alone?” asked Bonnie.
“Yes. There was no way he could have done it alone. Certainly not without dying in the process-”, replied Qetsiyah. Just then Sheila, Bonnie’s grandmother arrived.
“Qetsiyah, the elders require your intervention in a matter of urgency. They’d like to speak to you right away-”, announced Shiela.
“Oh, the elders! When will they learn to make a decision on their own? I just wonder what would happen when I’m gone. Bonnie, I will continue with the story when I return-”, saying so she started to leave.
“At least tell me what was the cure? Don’t keep me hanging like this to make my own assumptions?” asked Bonnie.
“The cure is the one thing that makes this story interesting. Now why would I want to ruin your growing zeal? Wait for me-”, Qetsiyah left with a smile on her face.
“Grams, do you trust her?” Bonnie asked Shiela.
Trust is a very strong word. Well, I’d say I do believe her though. I know child all this must be very difficult for you-”, Sheila placed a comforting hand on Bonnie’s shoulder.
“I’m fine, grams. I will be fine. There’s just one thing that’s troubling me since I’ve met her-”
“What is it, Bonnie?”
“Back there when Aja was advocating about punishing me, Qetsiyah said something like she has certain plans for me-”
Well what I have thought for Bonnie has ‘everything’ to do with the fact that she is my descendant...
“Grams, do you know what was she talking about?”
“No, I don’t my child. Qetsiyah mostly stays with the elders... the ancestors like Emily, Esther, Linda-”, she couldn’t finish as Bonnie interrupted her.
“Did you just say Esther? Esther as in the mother of the Original Vampires? She is one of the witches Qetsiyah consults?” Bonnie was shocked at the realisation.
“Qetsiyah doesn’t consult anybody, honey. She has free will. On the contrary, they consult her. However, the elders do have some say in certain matters. I don’t particularly like all the elders in here especially Esther. She is certainly more than what meets the eye-”, replied Shiela solemnly.

“I just ... I just can’t believe that my best friend’s gone... I spent the entire summer contemplating about a zillion different things that Bonnie, Elena and I would be doing at the college. What kind of idiot does that?” Caroline was sobbing, crying her eyes out.
“Don’t be so harsh on yourself. You had no idea about it. I shouldn't have listened to her. I should have told you guys all about it-”
“I was... I was waiting for her to return from her mother’s. And this entire time, she was just... she was just gone... Oh my God, oh... my... God”, Caroline stopped suddenly as a thought crossed her mind.
“What is it?” asked Jeremy puzzled.
“Elena’s been missing all summer. Oh my God. What if??” Caroline just couldn't say it. The mere thought of losing Elena shook her from top to bottom.
“No, Caroline... Don’t even think of it... Elena must be fine. We will find her. You just have to be strong. We’d be needing your help in this-”
“Yes... I have to be strong. Yes, we... we will find Elena-”
“There’s one more thing that I haven’t told anyone. I thought I could share it with you”, said Jeremy.
“Yeah. Tell me-”
“Bonnie had told me that I could see her like I see other ghosts... like I saw Vickie and Anna even after they were dead. But, she hasn’t shown up since the day. And that’s not just it. Right after she brought me back to life and bid me farewell I went to find her body so that I could at least give her a proper funeral. But, it wasn’t there... her body was missing-”
“What do you mean it wasn’t there?” Caroline was perplexed.
“It was like someone took her body after she died-”, proposed Jeremy.
“How is that even possible? Who else knew about her death? Did you tell anyone else?”
Things were getting more complicated with each passing moment.
“No one. I hadn’t said a word until now. As of now Damon, you and I are the only ones who know about it”, confessed Jeremy.
“Then where might her body be?”

Lucy was eating strawberries as she walked toward the kitchen. She was carrying a bowl full of fresh strawberries. She opened the fridge door and placed the bowl inside. Next, she took out a large ice crate with frozen ice cubes from the refrigerator and started heading toward the basement. She stopped right in front of a massive deep freezer. She opened it and poured all the ice cubes from the crate into it.

“Hi, cousin! Hang in there for just a few more days. The new moon is two days from now. We’ll meet again as I promised when we first met-” Lucy smiled looking at the frozen livid body of Bonnie Bennett.

Episode 5: "Once Upon A Time"

“What are we doing here at the quarry? I thought we were going to find Elena?” Jeremy asked Damon as he stepped out of the car.
“Yes, we will, Little Gilbert. But first, we need to find Stefan. How the hell did Silas escape? And when he did, what did he do to Stefan?” Damon spoke perplexed. A lot of questions were rushing through his brain at the same time. He now looked fresh and strong; his body re-energised with blood. Damon and Jeremy walked toward the desolate quarry where Stefan’s car was still parked. And a few metres away, lay the broken pieces of the once calcified Silas, half wrapped in a cloth.
“So Stefan must have brought Silas up here but how could Silas break through and get out? Bonnie made sure that Silas was all stone and no flesh. I think we should call Bonnie. Tell her that her summer trip’s over. May be she could help us figure out what exactly happened... well you know... with some juju from one of the witches’ cook books. She might even help locate Stefan through her locator spell-”, Damon said and took out his cell phone to dial Bonnie’s number.
“Damon, stop. Bonnie... She can’t help us. There’s something you need to know-”, Jeremy was still debating over as to how to put it across.
“What is it, Jeremy? You are Bonnie’s new spokesperson now?” Damon was waiting for Jeremy to come to his rescue.
“Bonnie.... She....uhh... Bonnie did a spell that brought me back. From the dead-”, Jeremy was hovering hither and thither. He didn’t know how to frame the disastrous news of Bonnie’s death.
“Yes, Jeremy. People read all that in the Huffington Post three months ago. What are you suggesting here?” Damon was irritated.
“The expression.... the dark magic took away her life, Damon. Bonnie’s dead and she is not coming back”. There was dead silence all around. Damon was shocked at what he had just heard.
“Bonnie, what??” He still couldn’t believe his ears.
“I was gone all summer because I couldn’t...  I couldn’t face everyone and lie to you guys about Bonnie like she asked me to. She didn’t want any of you to know that... that she is no more”, Jeremy’s eyes turned wet. And for the first time, Damon’s eyes were moist too. He hugged Jeremy to comfort him. After a long drawn awkward silence, Jeremy finally spoke,
“Thanks, Damon... Ughh... I think we should call Sheriff Forbes and ask her to send troops down here to check if Stefan is down there somewhere-”. Jeremy dialled Sheriff Forbes number.

“I’m listening. Tell me what’s the actual story of you, Silas and the other woman he loved? I’ve heard you killed her-”, Bonnie was speaking to Qetsiyah as they walked through the caves on the other side.
“You seem to have reached the conclusion before you have even had the story heard. Do not make any judgement about me before I tell you what it was that killed his one true love-”, Qetsiyah sounded polite.
“Okay. I am all ears-” Bonnie replied.
“I was born in a royal family that lived and conquered most parts of Athens. I was a princess- the only child of my mother Queen Aayesha. My mother belonged to one of the most powerful witches that have ever lived on earth”, she paused for a while but before she could continue, Bonnie intercepted her,
“Oh, so does that mean that though distant, but royal blood flows in my veins too?”
“It sure does, Bonnie. Sadly that you learned of it just now. But there was no way that you could have known”, Qetsiyah smiled and continued with her story.
“My father, The King had another wife named Samyra besides my mother and she had a daughter too by the name Moira. Moira was five years older than me and she was a wonderful sister, the best that one could get. Though born to different mothers, we never quite felt that she was any different from me -” Qetsiyah smiled at the memory.
“So, you had a step-sister? Nice. But, were Moira and her mother Samyra witches too?” Bonnie asked.
“No, they were ordinary humans yet special than most others. Like my father who was a human too but was the King of nine kingdoms at the time-”
“Okay. Qetsiyah, it’s nice to know to what bloodlines you belong or for that matter I belong but could you cut the story short a bit? I thought you were going to focus on the sad little triangular love story that supposedly explains why you turned into a raging vindictive bitch-”
“I understand your desperation, Bonnie but I believe half-told stories do not give you a clear imagery of an event or a person. And with time these incomplete fables tend to mold into something utterly inappropriate like it happened in my case-”
Without any further resistance, Bonnie allowed Qetsiyah to continue with her story.

Katherine was lying unconsciously on the bed in one of Klaus’ palatial guest rooms. Slowly, she was gaining consciousness. Once awake, she looked around in desperation to figure out where she was. Suddenly her eyes found something interesting. Katherine’s cell phone was lying on one of the bedside tables. She quickly grabbed it and carefully listened to a couple of the voice mails out of a dozen messages that she had received from Lucy. She looked around to check if it was safe to talk over the phone. She quickly dialled a number. There were a couple of rings but before someone picked up on the other end, Klaus opened the door and rushed to her. He instantly grabbed the cell phone away from her and listened to the voice on the other end.
“Oh thank God, Katherine! Where have you been? I called like a dozen times”, a female spoke from the other side.
“Who is this? I am afraid Miss Katherine Pierce isn’t in a state to attend your call at the moment. May I have a-” replied Klaus but before he could finish the line went dead.
“I am so sorry, love but the unknown caller just refused to reveal her identity to me and the voice sounded unfamiliar so now I’m just gonna have to get it out of you. Now that vervain’s out of your system, I don’t think it would be a problem?” Klaus stared into her eyes and compelled her,
“You will answer every word truthfully. You will not run nor make any attempts of escape. Tell me, who’re you working for?”
“Silas. I am working for Silas”, she replied.
“Who was this lady you just called?”
“This was Lucy.”
“Lucy who? Tell me all that you know about her”
“She is Bonnie’s cousin, a Bennett witch. I saved her life once and in return she helped me get the moonstone some years ago”
“Ah...interesting. So you’re working with Silas and this witch Lucy. And why on earth are you working with a witch?”
“They’ve promised me something. Something that I want-”
“Who’re they? Who else is involved?”
“Lucy is working with some other witches from Haiti. One of them is named Xoro. He is the master of a tribal witch community”
“And what is that something that they’ve promised to give you, sweetheart?”
“Immortality. They’ve promised me Silas-like immortality”.
Klaus grinned at the revelation. He however continued with the interrogation.
“Have the witches told you what they are up to? Tell me all that you know about their plans-”
“They want to bring Qetsiyah from the other side. They want to perform a spell that is going to lower down the veil to allow Qetsiyah to set foot on this side and finally put an end to Silas”
“And when exactly do they want to perform this spell?”
“I don’t know”

Bonnie was keenly listening to Qetsiyah’s story as they sat on a piece of rock.
“Moira was a beautiful soul. But, one day she was taken ill. And even with the best help from the nine kingdoms and beyond, none could help cure her. Natural and supernatural- everything failed. She was dying and we couldn’t let that happen. So we spread the word far and wide in search for the one cure that we believed existed somewhere or that someone who could make the cure for Moira's ailing body- ”
“So did you find the cure?” Bonnie now seemed drawn to the story.
“No. But we found someone who said he could make the cure-”
“Who was that someone?”
“You know him already. None but Silas”.

Lucy came by the cellar to check on Rebecca and Matt.
“You don’t look so good, Matt? I understand you must be hungry-”, saying so Lucy placed a food package before Matt.
“Well... what about me? Don’t you think I must be hungry too?” Rebecca revolted.
“Oh, I know. You must be very hungry. But, you see... witches don’t serve vampires. I don’t let vampires control me anymore. Something Bonnie taught me when we last met”, Lucy explained.
Matt hadn’t touched the food. He spoke for the first time.
“You could at least tell me what wrong have I done, Lucy? It appears that you know that I’m human, right? So why holding me here? Why not letting me go?” asked Matt.
“Oh, of course I know that you’re human, Matt. It’s just that you were at the wrong place and with a very wrong person. I cannot let you go...yet. Because, it appears to me that you too have a tendency to help out the evil ones. I cannot risk that. Once we are done, I’ll let you out myself, I promise-”, replied Lucy.
Just then Xoro and two of his tribal followers entered the cellar.
“Any news on Katerina, sister?” asked Xoro.
“Yes but I’m afraid it is bad news. Katherine has been kept captive by one of the other originals”, Lucy stopped to look at Rebecca before she continued,
Niklaus. I believe he has her.”
“But, we do need doppelganger blood for the spell? And-” he stopped suddenly as he heard someone moaning at a distance.
“I wonder who could that be?” spoke Lucy as she and Xoro made a headway toward the direction of the moaning. They were surprised to see what lay before them rather who lay before them.
“I believe that the doppelganger blood won’t be a problem anymore-”, said Lucy as she smiled.
“Certainly not. Elena Gilbert is just as good as Katerina Petrova-”, rejoiced Xoro. Before them lay the semi-conscious and desiccating Elena, held by the strong iron chains.

Episode 4: “Connecting The Dots”

The witches that surrounded Bonnie were looking at her in sheer rage with the exception of Emily and Sheila who were at no position to take Bonnie’s side. Bonnie had disrupted the balance of nature quite a lot of times now and it was now time to pay the price.
Aja continued pouring her anger on Bonnie,
“Witches are nature’s keeper and all your life... what little life you had... you helped those vampires... those... abominations of nature-” Bonnie intercepted her,
“Mind your tongue, whoever the hell you are. The abominations that you’re referring to... they’re my friends. I did everything to help them-”
“Help them?? You killed us. Wiped out an entire coven of 11 witches. You raised Silas-”
“But I also turned him back to stone. I'm sorry. Did you miss that episode?” Bonnie was going hammer on nail.
“But the moment you died, your spell broke and now he is a monster on the loose. It’s all because of you and your hunt for the cure that wasn’t even meant for you or your friends. So, Bonnie Bennett get ready. You are about to pay for your actions... your sins. Those are the rules here and-”, Aja couldn’t finish as Qetsiyah interrupted her.
“I make all the rules here, sister Aja. I hope you do remember that?”
“Of course, Qetsiyah. You created the veil, so you get to make all the rules. So what punishment have you thought for her? I just hope your sentence would not be influenced by the fact that Bonnie’s your descendant”, Aja replied sarcastically.
“Well what I have thought for Bonnie has everything to do with the fact that she is my descendant. I hope you wouldn’t mind, Aja. Because if you do you’re welcome to leave. This side of the veil is no short of space to wander”, Qetsiyah replied back curtly looking straight into Aja’s eyes whose eyelids now dropped in embarrassment.
Turning to Bonnie Qetsiyah continued,
“Now Bonnie, would you care to hear the actual story of Silas and me?”

Jeremy was talking to Caroline on the phone as he unlocked the doors of the Salvatore boarding house.
“...Yeah”, he continued over the phone, “I’m at the Salvatore mansion now... Yes, Caroline I will take care of myself... I’m not a kid anymore... Do say thanks to Sheriff Forbes for getting me out on bail...  Yeah, yeah... I’ll be in touch-”, he hung up. As he was on his way upstairs to the bedroom, he heard a thud from somewhere down the basement.
“Hello, who’s there?” Jeremy called as he made his way toward the basement. “Anybody down here?” he called again.  As he reached the barred iron door, he saw Damon lying on the floor, almost lifeless. He had fallen off the wooden bed while still seemingly unconscious.
“What the hell?? Damon??” Jeremy hurried to help him.
“Damon, who has done this to you? I thought you were at the Grill with Caroline. Are you there...? Damon, wake up-”, Jeremy lifted Damon’s head. He seemed very weak, almost on the verge of desiccation. His body had turned pale. He slowly opened his eyes.
“Je.. Jeremy??” he groaned of pain.
“Yes, it’s me. Damon, who did this to you? Katherine?” Damon wasn’t entirely conscious. He thought he had been hallucinating.
“Jeremy, is... is it really you, knuckle-head or.. am... am I in some bro-mance hallucination?” Damon chuckled.
“Screw you, Damon-”, Jeremy said and hugged him. Damon could hear Jeremy’s heart pumping and his half-opened eyes were fixated on Jeremy’s carotid veins that passed around his neck. Damon’s hunger now went beyond his control and he threw his fangs on Jeremy’s neck. Soon Damon was feeding on him and Jeremy couldn’t help but shout.
“Aaah.. Damon, what are you doing? Stop... Urghhh... Damon-”, Jeremy cried of pain. With a forceful thrust, Jeremy threw him away. Damon fell off some metres away; fresh blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He licked the sides with his tongue, relishing every drop.
“I know all your tricks, Silas. You can no longer fool me-”, Damon couldn’t finish as Jeremy intercepted him.
“Whoa, Damon! You must be hallucinating. It’s me, Jeremy. I’m not Silas. What the hell’s wrong with you?” Jeremy was perplexed.
“You’ve put on the Jeremy’s mask now. But, you don’t know that I know that Jeremy’s not in town. He’s been at the Lake House all summer to enjoy his... pity-party. Now, you’re not going anywhere. I’m going to rip off your arms, your legs and then slowly get your heart out of the chest-”, Damon plunged at Jeremy with his new-gained strength.

“Answer me, Damon! What are you doing with this Katherine bitch? Has the Long lost Katherine love overpowered your Sired love for Elena? Where’s Elena, what did you two do to her?” Caroline was raging with anger.
“You’ll always be a dumb blonde, Caroline. May be that’s why your boyfriends don’t last for more than two months. Katherine’s been helping me find Elena-”, Silas replied with Damon-like sarcasm in his tone.
“Helping you?? How?? She’s the one who has her-”, Caroline revolted.
“I told you. I don’t know where Elena is-”, said Katherine.
“Then who has her, love?”  Klaus asked Katherine. Katherine hesitated to give a name. How could she name Silas when Silas was right there? He would have killed her.
“Tell me, who has Elena?” Klaus shouted at her. Everyone at the Grill started staring at them. Just then, a message popped up in Caroline’s i-phone. It was from Jeremy. It read-
The man at the Grill is Silas. You gotta believe me. Damon’s with me. We’re going out to find Elena.

Caroline read the message twice to fully grasp the situation they were all caught up in the middle of.  She carefully showed the message to Klaus only. He read it, smiled and said,
“Katherine sweetheart, why don’t you come with me and we shall wait till the vervain is out of your system. You have proved to be an asset after all. There’s plenty I need to ask-”.

Xoro removed the blind folds off Rebecca and Matt’s eyes but they were still chained to vervain steeped iron clamps as they sat on the floor. These clamps thicker than the previous ones which Rebecca had managed to break without effort. The place seemed like some old cellar.
“Where are we?” asked Rebecca.
“Oh, you’re home. Welcome back to Mystic Falls”, spoke Xoro with a smile. Xoro and Lucy started to leave with the others of their tribal coven.
“Wait, you are doing a terrible mistake. Once my brother gets to know what you’ve done to me. He will rip each one of your hearts out of your chest and feed the crows-”, Rebecca threatened.
“By brother which one do you mean- Niklaus, Elijah, Finn or Kol ? Finn and Kol are already dead as I am told. Niklaus and Elijah are in New Orleans. So, if that was for a threat, it’s not working-”, Lucy spoke this time.
“How do you know so much? Who in Mystic Falls has been working with you?” Matt was surprised.
“No one’s been working with us. You’d be surprised to know who’s been working for us”, spoke Lucy as she dialled a number.
“Hello Katherine, this one’s my third message. Where the hell have you been? Call me. We’re back in Mystic Falls-”, Lucy dropped the message on Katherine’s voice mail.
