Grand Episode 12: REUNION- When The Veil Goes Down

So Far on The Vampires In My Diaries

The human Katherine returns to Mystic Falls, posing as Elena, and sends Jeremy to prison on false charges. Though later, Jeremy is saved by Caroline and her mother Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes.

All are baffled by the disappearance of Elena and her hunt begins. Caroline asks Klaus to compel Katherine to get the truth out. But all that he gets to know is that Katherine had been working with some witches from Haiti and Lucy, Bonnie’s cousin. In return for Katherine’s help, they had promised her Silas-like immortality.

Katherine is also seen working with Silas because he had promised her protection against her enemies in Mystic Falls in exchange for her help with his diabolical plans.

Elena has been held captive by Silas in the old Lockwood cellar, while he continues to change appearances every now and then. Damon gets Stefan dug out of the quarry with the help of Sheriff Forbes and her officials.

While Xoro, the leader of the witch tribe from Haiti has the sole motive of lowering the veil to bring back Qetsiyah, Lucy has found a way to bring Bonnie back and keep her on the side of the living by giving her a permanent foothold.

The mother of Original Vampires, Esther, has sent a message to the side of the living regarding her visit once the veil is lowered. Some witches led by Joshua Garfield are assisting her in her visit to the side of the living. Once Xoro, Lucy and the tribal coven from Haiti drop the veil, Joshua and his men are going to use it as an opportunity to bring Esther back from the other side.

Silas has offered a deal to Jeremy and the Salvatore brothers. He wants to talk to someone on the other side by taking Jeremy’s help. In return, he promises to give them Elena back. Despite Damon’s disapproval, while Stefan and Jeremy accept the offer.

Silas takes Stefan and Jeremy to his witch friend Joanna’s place to keep his end of the deal- allowing Stefan a glance of Elena. Silas shows them the unconscious Katherine Pierce lying on a bed and fools them into believing that she is Elena Gilbert; the room is under some spell cast by Joanna. The spell forbids Stefan or Jeremy to get in. Later when Damon comes in there, he kills Joanna and hence her spell breaks. Stefan now enters the room to find that the girl Silas showed them was Katherine and not Elena. Katherine, on waking up, strikes a deal with Stefan. She promises to take him to Elena and in return she demands protection.

Stefan offers a deal to Silas. He asks Silas to help them stop the spell that the witches from Haiti were about to perform to bring Qetsiyah back from the other side. In return, Stefan promises him a peaceful death.

Queen Andrea visits the side of the living to answer to her son Silas’ queries about the cure to immortality.

Lucy is planning to bring Bonnie back from the other side by sacrificing Elena during the ritual. The veil goes down tonight.

Will Stefan and Damon be able to save Elena from the sacrifice?

Will Katherine keep her end of the deal?

Will Esther visit the side of the living to end the entire line of Vampires?

Will Bonnie come back from the other side or will she remain trapped in there forever?

Stefan and Damon were driving in their car; Stefan was at the steering while Damon was sitting beside him.

“Do you think this shape-shifter Silas will keep his end of the deal??” asked Damon.

“Yes, Damon. After all, he is getting what he wants. His mother told him that she would make the cure again. We’ve told him that we’d help him die peacefully and pass on to the other side. There’s no reason why he wouldn’t help us-” answered Stefan.

“Stefan, how are you not mad at Silas for locking you up in the trunk and then dropping you off into the quarry to die??”

“Initially”, replied Stefan, “I was really very mad at him. But then after talking to him, I realized that we all have this annoying habit of making everyone else look like villains so that we could remain the heroes. We’ve done this to Klaus earlier and we did that to Silas again… So no, Damon I’m not mad at Silas anymore-”

“Stefan, you have been the hero of this story all along, I have always been the bad guy, remember??” smiled Damon. This brought a smile to Stefan’s face too. There was silence for some time as Damon was lost in some deep thought. Stefan broke the silence.

“What are you thinking, Damon?”

“I’m just wondering that the cure was really wasted on Katherine. Silas can’t use it after all and both you and Elena chose against it. Speaking of Katherine, do you really trust that bitch?”

“No, I don’t trust her, Damon. Which is why I used your trick on her. So she can’t run now-”

My trick??”

“Uhuh… GPS Tracker slash Modern-Day Locator Spell… always a charm”, quoted Stefan.

“Can I use your phone, Damon?” Damon handed over his phone to him. Stefan quickly dialed a number. After a couple of rings, someone picked up on the other end.

“Katherine… I hope you do remember we have a deal?” He spoke over the phone.

“Stefan… Hmm… yeah. Of… Of course I remember. In fact I was about to call you, Stefan”, Katherine lied.

“So, Miss Pierce. It’s time to pay the piper. Tell us where are the witches going to perform the spell?”

“Yeah… about that. They are performing the spell where a hundred witches had been massacred. There’s still time before the moon reaches its apex, IE, before they sacrifice Elena. I’m pretty sure you’ll make it on time-”

“And how do I know you’re not lying about the location?”

“Because I’m not, Stefan. Look, Lucy doesn’t have the expression so they’re going to use their powers and the power of the hundred dead witches to lower the veil for just some time… enough to get Qetsiyah back from the other side. And Stefan, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here in Mystic Falls… so why would I risk lying to you?”

“We’ll see that, Katherine. Bye for now-” Stefan hung up.

Katherine closed her suitcase shut. She was done packing.

Ba-bye Mystic Falls. See you…. Never”, she spoke to herself, smiling at the thought. She was leaving town for ever. Just then, there was a knock at the door.

“Now who could that be?” she wondered. She went to answer the door. She peeped through the hole provided on the door. It was the hotel room attendant.

“Room service, mam”, the attendant said. Katherine was a bit surprised by the untimely room service.  Hardly had she opened the door when Jeremy and Silas grabbed her. She was taken by surprise and she couldn’t defend herself. Before she could shout or scream, Jeremy put a handkerchief sprayed with chloroform over her mouth and nostrils. After moments of struggle, Katherine fell unconscious. Silas gave the attendant a hundred dollar note and he vowed to remain silent.

Esther and Linda were discussing about Esther’s visit to the side of the living.

“Are you ready, Esther??” asked Linda.

“I am, Linda. Thank you so much for all you’ve done. I’ll take it from here. Well, I received a message from the other side. Our witch friends will be working with Qetsiyah’s worshippers and once the veil is lowered, I’ll be on the other side.

Esther was about to leave the court when Qetsiyah came barging in. Both Linda and Esther were taken aback.

“Esther, going somewhere??”

Rebecca believed she had taken enough blood to regain her strength. Matt, though still a little dizzy, had managed to remain in his senses. In the moments of struggle, Joshua Garfield had dropped Matt’s magic ring. It had been lying a little away from Matt. Matt had noticed it and he had carefully hidden it under his left foot. Joshua and his men had gone with a promise to return for them later. But before Matt and Rebecca could escape, Xoro and his men had arrived to keep a watch on them. Rebecca had been constantly trying to break her chains but somehow she was unable to break them.

“Rebecca”, Matt whispered, “keep trying-”

“I am trying, Matt but these chains…”, she stopped as soon as she saw Xoro and Lucy coming toward them.

“Ready for the show??” Lucy asked them.

“Go to hell-”, scorned Rebecca.

“Lucy, they are our secondary concerns tonight. Let’s get the doppelganger first. We’ve got to take her to the spot. We’ll come for them later-”, Xoro said calmly.
Rebecca and Matt couldn’t understand why Xoro mentioned about the doppelganger.

“Wait…”, said Matt, “what doppelganger are you talking about?”

“Oh, Matt. We’re talking about your friend Elena Gilbert. As strange as it sounds, but it’s only true. All this time she was here… in this cellar but I’m very sorry you couldn’t get to see her. And I’m afraid you won’t be able to see her because tonight, she dies-” Lucy replied confidently.

“What?? Elena’s here?? Lucy, why are you doing this?? You’re a good witch. You’re Bonnie’s cousin and we… we’re Bonnie’s friends-”

“Bonnie is why I’m doing this, Matt. Bonnie died to bring Elena’s brother back from the dead. Tonight, I bring Bonnie back and Elena will die. I think that would make us even”. Bonnie’s death was a literal blow to Rebecca and Matt.

“Bonnie’s dead???” Matt was in absolute shock.

“Well…”, continued Lucy, “I don’t have time for all this. Good-bye both of you”. Lucy, Xoro and his men moved further inside the cellar where Elena was lying in chains. Elena looked pale, weak and fragile. She had been fed blood but only enough to keep her from desiccating.

“Elena-” , Lucy called.

“Ahhhh…. Huhh…”, gasped Elena as she eventually gained her consciousness back.

“Time to go-” , reminded Xoro.

“No, no, no…. leave me. Let me go. Where are you taking me??” Elena was horrified.

“You’re going to your death bed, Elena. The lesser you fight it, the easier it is going to be for you”, said Lucy and injected her with a syringe full of vervain around her neck. Elena fell unconscious.

“Bonnie-”, Andrea called. Bonnie turned to look.

“Here, you’re going to need this-”, saying so Andrea handed over a bottle of the cure to immortality. It was a glass tube filled with cherry-colored liquid.

“The cure! So Qetsiyah helped you make the cure again??” asked Bonnie.

“Yes. There was no reason why she would refuse. She wants to kill Silas after all. And not until Silas is mortal again, can she overpower him-”

“Hang on. But if Silas takes this cure, he’ll become a witch again. A True Blood.  So he will still be more powerful than Qetsiyah, wouldn’t he??”

“That is where you come in, Bonnie. That is why Qetsiyah is taking you along with her to the side of the living. Two most powerful witches of the Bennett line. It would be difficult, but you two can take down Silas. But, I hope you do remember what I told you”

“Of course. I will keep my word, Andrea. Silas will die a peaceful death. I too believe that he’s suffered enough. I won’t let Qetsiyah make him suffer any more and if she does, I know what to do-”

“Thank you, Bonnie. Well there is something you should know. Once you’re on the other side, you’re going to use your own body as the vessel which will give you a stronger and permanent foothold on the side of the living. While there would be no human vessel for Qetsiyah; her visit to the other side can only be only transient and temporary-”

After a pause, Andrea continued,

“You’re a strong witch, Bonnie. You’re being given a new life tonight. All I would say is use it well. And here, keep this too”, saying so Andrea handed over another dose of the cure to immortality.

“A second dose of the cure to immortality?? What will I use this for??”

“This is for your friend Elena. That is, if she chooses to be human again. You did not ask anything back in return from me. Consider it a token of thanks from the former Queen of Rome-”, Andrea said smilingly.

“And Happy Birthday, Bonnie”, added Andrea.

“You knew?? You knew it is… it was my birthday??” Bonnie was pleasantly surprised. If Bonnie were alive, she would have turned 20 today. It was only a coincidence that Bonnie was getting a new life on the same day on which she was born in Mystic Falls twenty years ago.

“Your grams told me that. And look I am not the only one who wants to wish you”, saying so Andrea made way so that Bonnie could look.

Bonnie’s Grandmother Sheila, Jenna Sommers, Alaric Saltzman and Lexi were standing there waiting to greet her.

“Happy Birthday, Bonnie-”, they chorused together. Bonnie’s happiness knew no bounds. It was the for first time since she had died that she caught a glance of Elena’s aunt Jenna, Stefan’s dear friend Lexi and their old history teacher Ric. She instantly broke into tears, but of course those were the tears of happiness and joy.

Esther and Linda had been caught red-handed by Qetsiyah. Sheer fear and apprehension gripped them. It was as if their feet had been frozen as they stood there motionless contemplating how Qetsiyah would punish them for this act.

“Qetsiyah, allow me-”, Esther initiated but Qetsiyah waved her to stop.

“I do not want to hear any justifications, Esther. How could you even think I would not come to know of this secret plan of yours?? I have ears all around, did you happen to forget that?” Qetsiyah asked in rage.

“Qetsiyah, I am to be blamed. I encouraged, Esther. Whatever punishment you are thinking of, I alone deserve it. Spare Esther-”, Linda volunteered and took all the blame on herself.

“Linda, no… You don’t have to do this for me-”, Esther defended her.

“Enough! Stop, both of you…”, said Qetsiyah, “I do not have time to think about you two right now. I will deal with you two once I return from the side of the living. For now, Esther… I hope you do enjoy this-”

“Wha… what do you mean??” Esther was puzzled. Qetsiyah departed but someone joined them to keep them company and to prevent Esther from trying anything again.

“Hello, mother. It’s been a long time-”, said Kol Mikaelson.

“Kol!” gasped Esther. Esther and Linda were shocked to see Esther’s dead son.

Caroline Forbes was at her residence looking at a photo album that contained pictures of her and her childhood friends- Elena, Bonnie, Tyler and Matt. She glanced at the clock on her bedside table. It showed 12:00 AM. She burst into tears.

“Today would have been your twentieth birthday, Bonnie. I miss you… I miss you a lot!!” Just then her doorbell ran. Wiping her tears off of her face, she got up to answer her door.

Tyler?? Oh, God… Tyler”, Caroline was pleasantly surprised. At once, she hugged him tightly and burst into tears.

“I knew you would come. I kept telling my mom that you can’t just… leave me like that. Tyler, I…”, Tyler didn’t let her finish.

“Caroline, I’m not here to stay”, replied Tyler. There was something in his tone that got Carline both baffled and worried.

“What?? What did you just say??”

“I am not here to stay, Care’. I came here chasing Klaus. And once I find him, I’m going to kill him. Do you know where he is?”

“Jesus! Tyler, are you even hearing yourself right now?? What is wrong with you??”

“What is wrong with me?? Caroline, that monster killed my mom. You want me to forget that?? Just because you have a soft corner for him, please save me a lecture on how good Klaus is and all the good things that he’s done for you-”

“You know what, Tyler… you are right. I shouldn’t waste a single second of my time trying to put some sense into you. And speaking of good things about Klaus… I called you a thousand times, left you a hundred messages but you didn’t bother to reply or call me back. Bonnie’s dead… Elena’s been missing. Even after knowing you for so many years… even after being childhood friends, you never showed up for once but Klaus... For Klaus, one voice message was enough. So yes, Tyler… I do have a soft corner for him. At least he’s been more of a friend than you ever were-” Caroline was infuriated beyond measure. Tears were rolling down her cheeks and her Barbie-face had turned red.

“Caroline, I lost my phone. I didn’t receive any of your calls or messages. And what did you just say, Bonnie’s dead??” Tyler was shocked at the news. Just then, Caroline’s cell phone crackled to life. Wiping her tears, she attended the call.

“Hey Jeremy, what’s up??” she spoke over the phone.

“Caroline”, Jeremy spoke from the other end of the line, “we found out where Elena is. Some witches are planning to sacrifice her for some God damn spell to bring Qetsiyah from the other side-”. Jeremy went on.

The Salvatore brothers were still on their way. It’s when a new message popped up on Damon’s cell phone.

“That must be Jeremy”, said Stefan, “I had told him to forward Lucy’s cell-number once he got his hands at Katherine’s phone. Damon checked his phone and found that it was true.

“So what are you going to do, baby bro once we save Elena tonight?? You’re gonna leave us and go… again?? asked Damon.

“We’ll think about that later, Damon. First call on that number and try to talk Lucy through… convince her to stop the spell-”

“I’m right on it, brother-”, he dialed the number that Jeremy had forwarded and put the call on speaker.

Xoro, Lucy and the ten tribesmen from Haiti had made all arrangements to do the spell. The moon was full; its luminance was spectacular. Something about the night was very scary. Tonight the veil between the two worlds was to be dropped- the wall that separated the living from the dead supernatural species was going to be destroyed.

Hiding in the shadows, were Joshua Garfield and his men, watching the other witches work. Joshua had a band-aid on his neck where Rebecca had bitten him.

“Nobody move… We join them when the moon reaches its apex and once they have started the spell. Till then, just sit tight-”, he commanded his men.

“Huhh…ughh…”, Elena moaned as she was gaining consciousness.

“Wake up, sleepy head-”, Lucy patted on her cheek a couple of times. Elena woke up to find that she was lying on the ground. She checked her hands and feet, they were free from cuffs. She was no longer bound in iron chains. She tried to run but somehow she couldn’t move.

“What have you done to me??” Elena asked puzzled.

“Oh, it’s just a spell. Just to make sure you don’t run-”, replied Lucy.

“I.. I know you. You’re the witch who-”

“Save it, Elena. Yes… I’m Lucy… Bonnie’s cousin. Bonnie, do you remember her??”

“Of course I remember Bonnie. She’s my best friend. Why would you say that??” Elena was amazed.

“She was your best friend. That was before she brought your brother back from the dead. I may not live here in Mystic Falls but Elena… witches talk…”

“What?? Jer… Jeremy’s back??”

“Stop it, Elena. Stop your act of innocence. Don’t pretend like you don’t know anything-”

“All summer I was held captive by… by Stefan… I don’t know why but… You gotta trust me… I honestly don’t know anything. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Please tell me… where’s Bonnie??”

“Either you are an amazing actress or you’re genuinely clueless. Anyways, Bonnie used expression to bring Jeremy back from the dead and in the process, she ended up killing herself. Tonight I’m going to bring her back from the other side and-”

“What?? Bonnie’s dead?? Oh, my… Oh, my God… Bonnie’s dead… No, no, no… why?? Why did she… Bonnie, why… why did you do it??” Elena was losing it. All her emotions were getting heightened all at once- rage, self-pity, shame, guilt and the worst… grief. Lucy was surprised to realize that all this time Elena was actually uninformed about Bonnie’s death. For the first time now, she felt pity for Elena. But she couldn’t let Elena go now, could she? Elena was her only shot at bringing Bonnie back. Especially, since Katherine had ditched her. She needed a doppelganger… the spell needed a doppelganger.

Just then a tribesman brought Bonnie’s dead body and placed it before Elena.

“Bonnie…. No, no, no, Bonnie-” Elena was growing hysterical with every passing moment. Her tears were flowing like endless rills and her emotions had overpowered her.

“Sorry, Elena. I misjudged you. Now I know you two were really good friends. I am sorry but… in order to bring Bonnie back I need to bind the spell to a recurring element of nature like a comet or a doppelganger. I don’t have the expression and the spell requires tremendous amount of energy. I need to combine the power from a hundred dead witches, a witch coven’s power and a doppelganger’s sacrifice to do the spell… I am really sorry, Elena. I-”, Elena cut her in.

“It’s okay, Lucy. Do what you have to do. I just want my best friend back-” Elena spoke in submission.

“Rebecca, we’ve got to stop them or they’re going to kill Elena”, Matt was getting reckless.

“I know, Matt. I’m trying but these chains-”, suddenly the chains came out of the rocky walls.

“Huh”, Rebecca gasped joyously. Next she broke the chains off of her legs and those that bound Matt. Suddenly, they heard footsteps approaching them.

“Matt… shshhh.. “, she signaled him not to move.

Coming from the shadows were two figures. Not until a beam of moonlight fell on their faces, could Rebecca and Matt know who they were.

“Elijah?? Hayley??” Rebecca, at once rushed to hug her eldest brother.

“Elijah, I thought you were in New Orleans. What are you two doing here?” asked Rebecca.

“Yes. Hayley and I both were in New Orleans. We came here to find Niklaus. He came here at the request of Caroline but never returned. I had no news of you either. So we came here looking for you two. Judging by your conditions, I could tell you two have no idea about Niklaus”, deduced Elijah.

“No, Elijah. We don’t know where Klaus is. I didn’t even know that he was here in Mystic Falls-”, Rebecca explained.

“But how did you find us??” Matt asked.

“I got a witch to do a locator spell to locate Rebecca and Klaus. From what I can say now, the spell worked-”

“Yeah, but what about Klaus??” asked Rebecca.

“The witch…”, said Hayley, “that we went to said that Klaus was under some concealment spell. Though she could not determine his exact location, she did say that he is somewhere in Mystic Falls”

“Don’t worry, Rebecca. We will find Niklaus too. And then we will all go back to New Orleans. After all that is our home… A home where we could live together”, Elijah spoke in his decent manner.

“Always and Forever… Of course, Elijah. But first, we need to do something-”, said Rebecca.

Lucy’s friend, Melissa, had returned home from her long vacations. She was absolutely unaware that Lucy and Xoro had kept Klaus’ body hidden in her house. Xoro had done a spell that turned Klaus into a motionless but breathing corpse. He was perfectly harmless as he had been lying unconscious on the icy-bed.

Melissa took out four bottles of beer from the carat and headed toward the deep-freezer to put them in there. As soon as she opened the lid of the deep-freezer, she screamed of fear at the sight of Klaus. Even in his sleep, Klaus looked ferocious. The bear bottles dropped off her hands and all of them cracked on hitting the floor.

Lucy’s cell phone crackled to life. She picked it up.

“Hello??” she spoke over the phone.

“Hello, witch. You gotta stop what you’re doing right now. And let Elena go-”

“And who am I talking to?”

“Hey Lucy, listen”, Stefan spoke over the speaker, “This is Stefan Salvatore. That was my brother Damon. You have got to stop the spell”

“And why is that??”

“Because if you don’t I’ll rip off every part of your body and feed ‘em to the crows for breakfast tomorrow”, threatened Damon.

“Excuse me… if that was a threat, I’m sorry to say you don’t scare me. Besides, it’s too late now-”, saying so Lucy hung up and switched it off.

Just then, Xoro came in there to invite Lucy for the spell.

“It’s time-”, said Xoro. Lucy nodded in agreement.

Lucy, Xoro and Elena were kneeling down such that they formed the three vertices of an equilateral triangle. Each of them was within a spelled circle of fire. Encircling this large imaginary triangle, were the other ten tribal witches. They too had now fallen on their knees to pray.

Elena was still mourning looking at Bonnie’s dead body. The corpse had turned livid and grotesque.

The full moon now reached its apex. All the twelve witches closed their eyes and started enchanting an Aramaic spell in unison.

Noticing that the witches were lost in prayer, Joshua Garfield ordered his men to move ahead with slow, silent steps.

“Lets go-“, he said in a hushed voice. The six men slowly moved forward. Maintaining a safe distance and hiding in the darkness, they quickly fell on their knees. The five of them formed a semi-circular arch while Joshua was at the imaginary centre of the arch. He took out a knife and made a deep cut on his palm.

“Ughhhh”, he cried of pain. Soon they were all lost in deep meditation, repeating a Latin spell in unison.

On the other side of the veil, Qetsiyah and Bonnie were getting ready for their visit to the side of the living.

“Bonnie, are you ready?” Qetsiyah asked.

“Yeah. I’m ready-”, Bonnie exhaled once.

Bonnie and Qetsiyah stepped forward and held each other’s hand, waiting for the veil to drop so that they could step into the world of the living. On one side of the two Bennett witches, stood Andrea and Lexi while on the other stood Jenna and Alaric.

“Good bye, Bonnie-”, said Alaric.

“Good bye, Ric-”

“Tell Elena”, began Jenna with tears, “we said hi

“And for me”, added Lexi with a smile, “do tell Stefan that I love him and I miss him”

“Of course. I’ll give them all your messages and love”, Bonnie smiled with tears in her eyes.

“It’s happening”, said Qetsiyah.

The veil was being lowered gradually like some curtain was being dropped slowly. They all could now see what lay before them.

“Elena??” Bonnie was shocked to find her best friend weeping hysterically.

“What’s going on??” Bonnie asked Qetsiyah. She was perplexed by Elena’s presence.

“They’re sacrificing a doppelganger for the spell. Your friend Elena has to die so that we can visit the other side. Nature demands balance

“You mean Elena has to die so that I could get a new life?? While you mentioned about our visit to the other side, did you forget to add this part or you purposely left it?? Either way, I am sorry Qetsiyah but I’m not going with you-”, Bonnie left hold of Qetsiyah’s hand.

Lucy now stood up and moved to Elena.

“Elena, it’s time-”, Lucy said to her.

Lucy picked up a giant sharp knife and began rubbing it against Elena’s soft neck carefully so that every drop of the doppelganger blood accumulated in a silver chalice.

“Arghh… uhhh”, Elena cried of the irresistible pain.

“Elena, no… Lucy, stop-”, Bonnie shouted.

“They can’t hear you, Bonnie”, said Qetsiyah, “Not until the spell is complete”.

Elena was fast losing her consciousness. To ease off the pain, her brain took her to a state of absolute unconsciousness. Moments later, Elena was standing right in front of the dead supernatural beings.

“Bonnie?? Jenna?? Ric?? Lexi??” Elena was pleasantly surprised on meeting some of the known faces on the other side.

“You can see us?? But how??” Jenna asked, puzzled.

“Of course, I can see you all-”, replied Elena.

“Oh my God…  Does this mean??” Bonnie shivered with fear at the thought. Qetsiyah came to satiate her query.

“Yes, Bonnie. I think it means your friend Elena… is dead-”

Bonnie was caught up in the midst of a heated conversation between Qetsiyah and Queen Andrea.

“Why don’t you tell me why you’re here, Queen Andrea??” asked Qetsiyah.

“I want to come to terms with you, Qetsiyah. Two thousand years has been quite a long time. You should give it a rest, do you not agree?” replied Andrea.

“Indeed… two thousand years has been a very long time. I have waited for two thousand years to watch Silas kill himself or to get an opportunity to kill him myself. It has been no less than an eternity for me-”

“I don’t think I like your choice of words. Do I have to remind you that I am still more powerful than you, Qetsiyah?”

“And do I have to remind you that it was you who helped me put Silas in that tomb two thousand years ago? What has arisen this sudden motherly emotions in you, if I may ask?”

“You wouldn’t know even if I tell you. Because you have never known what love is. All you have known is vengeance-”

“Silas took everything from me- my home, my family. I cannot forgive him for what he did. And I cannot believe you are saying this?? What kind of mother puts his only son inside a tomb to desiccate??” Qetsiyah spoke sarcastically.

“And what kind of sister takes her only sister’s life??” retorted Andrea.

2000 Years Ago

A bright moon was shining in the sky. Qetiyah walked into Moira’s room. Qetsiyah’s eyes were swollen from crying and tears still filled the core of her eyes. She found Moira was cutting an apple with a giant sharp knife. Moira now looked perfectly well. It was as if the wild fever or any illness had never touched her. The two sisters were like mirror-reflections of one another, only Moira looked a bit older than Qetsiyah, both girls were exquisite beauties. Startled by Qetsiyah’s un-notified presence, Moira lost her focus and she cut her left palm with the giant knife.

“Arghhh…”, Moira cried of pain. It was a deep-cut; blood started flowing instantly until suddenly the wound started healing on its own. At first, the flesh healed, next a new layer of skin covered the cut. Within moments, the wound was completely healed like there was never a cut on her palm.

“What’s happening??” Moira was surprised by her wound’s recovery.

“Qetsiyah, was it you?? Did you just do something??” she asked curiously.

“No, I.. I did not… How did it happen??” Qetsiyah was taken aback by the miracle too. Moira, fascinated by the healing, made a cut on her palm a second time; only this time it was done deliberately. Within moments, the wound healed again.

“This is like some miracle. Do you think I have become a witch of some kind, Qetsiyah??” She asked curiously.

“No, Moira. Witches’ wounds do not heal on their own. It… it is something else. Well… how do you feel now?”

“I feel… I don’t know… different than usual. The fever has broken. My wounds… are healing on their own. I must say I have never been better. Do you think it is because of the cure you and Prince Silas prepared for me???” Qetsiyah was shocked at the question. But Moira was yet to take the cure, she thought.

“But you have not had the cure as yet? How could..”, Qetsiyah couldn’t finish as Moira interrupted her.

“Oh, I had had the cure last night. Prince Silas never told you that?? He came to me with the cure last night and insisted that I should take it that very moment-” Moira confessed innocently. But this revelation was a literally a blow for Qetsiyah, like someone had slapped her really hard. Suddenly, she was enveloped in a circle of all the worse feelings at the same time- rage, self-pity, humiliation, and hatred and heart-break.

“He served you the cure already?? Then why did he lie to all of us at the court this evening? Why did he put up that entire act?? Oh, I understand it all now. Prince Silas is a traitor and a liar-” Qetsiyah’s rage knew no bounds. She lost her self to her anger.

“Watch your words, Qetsiyah. Prince Silas saved my life-”, defended Moira.

“Yes, but do you know why??”

“Yes. Because he is an honouranle man-”

“No, Moira. Because he is in love with you. He loves you… he chose you over me. All this time, he and I had been working together… all his gentle words, his little talk with me… it was all a deception-”

Qetsiyah was now hysterical. She was blabbing without having any control over her thoughts or words. Just then, Silas made his way into the room.

“What is wrong?? What happened??” he was perplexed.

Qetsiyah turned to look at him. Her eyes had turned red and tears were making their way down her cheeks.

“Silas, you betrayed me. You betrayed my trust??” Qetsiyah blamed him.

“What?? How?? Qetsiyah, you have me wronged. Calm down-”

“No, I will not calm down. You lied to each one of us at the court today… you lied to my father, the King and you lied to your own beloved mother”

“I loved you…”, Qetsiyah went on, “…more than anything or anyone ever. And you… you had me wronged. All this time, you have hidden your emotions for her… Once… at least for once had you shared….”, she couldn’t finish as Silas cut her in.

“I was scared to share my feelings with anyone, Qetsiyah. I did not know it was the right thing to do. And not until I was assured that Moira would live-”. Moira was baffled by all the revelations, she was in a shock. She summoned all her strength to put just one question to Silas.

“What is this cure, prince Silas??” Moira asked him.

“Moira, allow me to-”

“Answer me, what is this cure???” she shouted. Just then, Andrea arrived in there but she chose to stand just outside the room to watch the sudden turn of events. She thought best not to intervene.

“The cure..”, began Silas, “it was bound by a spell of immortality. This was the only way you could cheat death... we could cheat death. Moira, you and I are immortal now-”

“Why did you not tell me what this cure was when I asked you last night?? Why did you withhold the truth from me??”

“I thought it best to keep it from you for the moment should you have chosen not to take the cure at all?? Moira, I am in love with you and now we could spend an eternity together-”

“Silas, I love you too. But I don’t want this immortality of guilt and shame… of cheating my own sister. So I decide against it. Qetsiyah, you once told me that nothing on this earth can be truly immortal. Any beast, if beheaded is doomed to die. Isn’t that true??” Qetsiyah nodded in agreement but she failed to understand the context of Moira’s words. And before she or Silas could realize, Moira violently slits her own throat with the sharp knife.

“Moira, no-”, Qetsiayh and Silas cried together. But it was too late. Her head fell off on the ground, followed by her lifeless body.

There was a mourning silence all around. Silas, Qetsiyah and Andrea were all shocked at the nasty turn of events. Silas was heart-broken. He blamed Qetsiyah for what happened while Qetsiyah blamed him; Andea blamed them both.
The moon now slowly reached its apex and the sky and the earth was lit by its brightness. Never before had the moon shone so brightly but it could not wither away the darkness that had crept into the lives of Qetsiyah or Silas or their families. The prophecy of the grand Maesters was true after all; Moira couldn’t live to see the moon reach its apex.

“How the hell did you find out where we are?” Stefan asked Damon surprised by his un-notified visit.

“About that… I might have done some scientific joojoo…”, answered Damon. But Jeremy and Stefan were still exchanging puzzled looks as they had not the slightest idea about what Damon was trying to say. Damon, on noticing the blank looks on their faces, came to their rescue,

“Well… Stefan, before you left for a little road trip with Silas, I activated the GPS tracker on my phone and slid it into your pocket. Brother, check it out it must still be there in your… err.. left pocket-”. Stefan checked his pocket and found the phone was in there. He gave it back to Damon

“See…”, continued Damon in his charming voice, “GPS tracker slash Modern-day Locator Spell… always a charm-”

“Okay… but how did you get in?”” asked Jeremy.

“You mean if I was invited in?? I wasn’t. I’m sorry, Silas but the lady friend of yours… she’s dead. I ate her. Man, but lemme tell you she was delicious”. The news of Joanna’s death agitated Silas beyond measure. His pallid face turned red and his blue eyes sparkled with rage. He, at once, attacked Damon, grabbing him by his throat.

“Stefan, Jeremy… the deal is off. And now, I am going to kill each one of you-”, Silas spoke in anger.

Qetsiiyah had left, leaving behind Bonnie and Andrea, who were now caught up in an estranged silence.

“You must be Bonnie?? Qetsiyah’s… descendant??” Andrea broke the quietness.

“Yes, but… how do you know about me??” asked Bonnie, puzzled.

“I do not intervene in most of the matters of the other side but that does not mean that I remain uninformed too. I communicate with some of the elders who tell me everything-”

“Okay…”

“Bonnie, do you know what Qetsiyah has planned for you??”

“No, absolutely not… do you??”

“Of course. I know how her mind works. We have had a … history… Qetsiyah and I. Something that we both are not very proud of but… we have worked together a couple of times”

“Worked together?? Weird… The way you two were talking it seemed quite the opposite-”

“I understand it must seem that way. But those spells couldn’t have been performed by either of us alone. We had no choice. Those spells required enormous amount of power, it required-”

“Channeling??”

“That is the contemporary terminology… but yes, channeling-”

“Well, what spells…??”

“Initially I helped her make the cure to immortality for… my son. And later, I assisted her in putting this veil up”

“But that does not explain why she shivered with fear when she first saw you here??”

“Because I am more powerful than her. I am a True Blood. Even now… even after almost two thousand years of our deaths-”

“But how?? You’re dead and dead witches do not have any power. They can do no magic here, can they??” Bonnie’s curiosity was growing. But Andrea made no attempt to answer that.

“Enough about our past”, Andrea said, “let us talk about the present. Bonnie, there is something I want you to do for me. Would you do it??”

“That depends on what it is that you want me to do”

“Oh, don’t you worry. It shouldn’t be very difficult for you… And I will return the favor… Anything you ask… Think about it. Well… I have to go now… There is someone calling me from the other side- the side of the living. His name is Jeremy… Thought you should know-”

Rebecca and Matt were still trying to adjust with the new state of affairs- the arrival of Joshua Garfield and his men, who wanted to bring Esther back from the other side.

“So what will you do Mr. Garfield??  Kill me?? Is that my mother’s orders??” asked Rebecca. She had a certain amount of pride even in mentioning about her own death. But that was obvious- she couldn’t die. Not until someone drove the indestructible stake through her heart. But that stake was somewhere safe about which only she knew. Hence she was pretty sure she wasn’t dying today or the next day when the veil was to be lowered.

“Well, no… we’re not going to kill you. But you already know that, don’t you? After all we don’t have that one stake that your mother created to wipe out your entire bloodline… and thus the bloodline of all vampires in the world-” replied Joshua.

“So she is coming back to finish what remained undone when she first visited this side… To kill us all??”

“Of course. You’re all… and I quote your mother when I say, abominations on the face of the earth. You must all die”, saying so Joshua burst into laughter; soon his men joined him.

“So what are you waiting for?? Do what you’re told to do”, spoke Matt.

“You’re Matt, aren’t you?? I am not supposed to kill you, if that’s what you’re indirectly asking. But, I will definitely take your magic ring. You’ve been cheating death for quite some time now. I don’t think the witches on the other side or this side like that anymore-”, saying so Joshua leaned to remove the ring from Matt’s finger. Matt found an opportunity and hit Joshua on the head with his own. Next, grabbing his neck, Matt offered his neck to Rebecca to feed on him.

“Feed on him, Rebecca. Fast…”, Matt told her. Rebecca was quick with her reflexes- perks of being an original vampire. At once, she went for Joshua’s carotid veins around his neck and punctured it with her sharp fangs.

“Aghhhh…”, he cried of pain. Before the other five men could grasp the situation and come to Joshua’s rescue, Rebecca had fed quite a lot of blood to make up for her lost strength.

Damon applied all his might to free his throat from Silas’ strong grasp. After quite a lot of effort, he was successful in doing so.

“Did I forget to mention that I was in disguise?? I appeared as a courier delivery boy. I fear she came a bit too close. It’s when I grabbed her and fed on her until every drop of her blood was drained out of her body. I’ve just had my lunch. So, I’m in my stronger suite now, you two thousand year old man”

“So if Joanna’s dead, it means that all her spells must have broken”, concluded Jeremy. Stefan, on realizing this fact, at once rushed to the bedroom where lay Katherine. He could now enter into the bedroom; the spell was broken after all. On reaching the bed, he knelt down to wake her up.

“Elena, wake up. Wake up, Elena-”, he kept on. Just then, his eyes caught a glance of the bump and the wound on her head. He carefully removed her hair from over the wound to observe the same.

“Oh, God… this isn’t Elena. She’s Katherine! Silas, you liar son of a bitch-” Stefan was infuriated at the realization. Elena was a vampire, all her wounds would have healed in moment’s time. This was definitely Katherine Pierce, the new human doppelganger. It was strange how destiny had played games with Katherine and Elena. About a year ago, Elena was human and Katherine was a vampire but now… Destiny had switched their places.

“Ow… ahhhh… Stef….Stefan, is that you?? Whe… where am I??” Katherine moaned as she began gaining her senses back.

Stefan didn’t bother to reply. On the contrary, he stood up and was about to leave when Katherine held his hand.

“Aah, my head!! It hurts… really bad. I… I think I might have a concussion…”

“You know what, Katherine. I am genuinely not interested-”

“Stop, please… Don’t go. Help me-”

“Help you?? Help you why?? So that you could keep on messing with our lives. You’re a real bitch, Katherine… a selfish, manipulative bitch… But you already know that about yourself, don’t you?” Stefan’s rage was rising with every passing minute. He threw away Katherine’s hand and raced to the door. Hardly, had he stepped out of the door when Katherine called,

“I could take you to Elena-” Stefan stopped and turned to glance at her.

“You’re bluffing”, he said confidently.

“No, no, no… I’m not bluffing. I’ll tell you everything. Please, hear me out once-”, Katherine begged.

“Go on…”

“I have been working with Silas all this time because he had promised that he’d protect me from my enemies in Mystic Falls. I’m human now, Stefan. I neeeed protection”

“Yeah well… You shouldn’t have stayed in Mystic Falls then, knowing everyone here wants you dead. Why’d you stay?”

“I didn’t want to stay. In fact, the moment I realized I was a fragile human, I was leaving this town but then Lucy showed up-”

“Lucy?? As in the witch who helped you get the moonstone??”

“She helped you get the moonstone. And then you and Damon had me locked up in that tomb, remember?? But, yes.. the same Lucy. She’s Bonnie’s cousin aka a Bennett witch”

“And why’d she come to Mystic Falls?”

“She and some witches from Haiti are trying to do a spell to lower the veil and to bring Qetsiyah to this side… So that Qetsiyah could kill Silas”

“And??”

“And to do that spell, they need doppelganger blood or doppelganger sacrifice to be specific… Elena wasn’t around. She was somewhere… hooking up with Damon”, saying so Katherine looked into Stefan’s eyes to see how he felt about it. But Stefan didn’t give her the contentment.

“So you agreed to sacrifice yourself?? No, I don’t think I believe that, Katherine”

“I didn’t agree to sacrifice myself. I can never agree to something like that. I love myself, Stefan. But, Lucy promised me that she wouldn’t let me die. She said that she would find a way to keep me alive. And it’s not just that. She told me she would grant me Silas-like immortality which Bonnie refused me earlier... I hear Bonnie’s dead?? May she rest in… hell-”

“And you actually think that Lucy wouldn’t do what Bonnie did? Katherine, are you really that dumb or is it the cure that has turned you into a dumb human??

“I’m not dumb, Stefan. I’m Katherine Pierce. I’m a survivor. Of course, I didn’t believe Lucy. That is why I’ve been staying hidden from those witches while they were out hunting for a doppelganger… until yesterday when their hunt stopped suddenly. Think about it, Stefan. They need a doppelganger for the spell and they’ve stopped looking for me now… Tomorrow’s the full moon when they are planning to lower the veil, now why do you think they stopped??”

“Wait… how do you know they stopped hunting for you… for a doppelganger??”

Katherine took out her cell phone from her purse and read out a message from her inbox. The message was a day old and it was sent by Lucy. Katherine read the message aloud:

“No longer need your help, bitch. Found a way out with the spell. You could forget your immortality now… blah blah”

Stefan thought for a while and understood what Katherine was trying to say.

“So they’ve found another way… another doppelganger. Oh God, they have Elena-”

“And she is going to die… unless I help you”

“But how will you help me?? You have no idea where she is”

“But I know where they’re going to do the spell… duh…and it’s not at the centre of the expression triangle if that’s what you’re thinking”

“And what do you want in return for this favor??”

“The only thing I’ve been wanting lately… Protection. I don’t trust the witches and I don’t trust Silas anymore, especially after what he did to me... Jesus, my head still hurts. I am guessing Silas might kill me eventually… so, Stefan… do we have a deal??”

Back in the other room, Jeremy had been shouting,

“Silas, stop. ‘cause if you don’t, you’re not getting the cure… I am not talking to your mother”

“I already told you, hunter. You didn’t hear me the first time?? I repeat, the deal is off-”, Silas grabbed Damon again and this time Damon couldn’t help himself out. Silas tossed him into the air. Damon hit the wall and came crashing down to the ground. Just then, Stefan entered the room.

“Stop… both of you…”, he said, “Silas, you lied to us… That was Katherine you showed us. That’s why you had the room spelled, hadn’t you? So that we could not observe closely. You thought you could show us Katherine and fool us into believing that she was Elena??”

“But it worked, didn’t it?? You two were fooled until this… Damon showed up. But that doesn’t matter anymore because now, I’m going to kill all three of you-”

“Don’t waste your energy, Silas. Katherine’s gone now and Jeremy’s not gonna talk to your mother. In other words, you’ve lost your shot at getting the cure to immortality. Besides, your dead girlfriend’s sister, Qetsiyah is coming to this side to kill you. So here’s a deal I’m offering you- You help us get Elena back by stopping Qetsiyah from visiting this side and we will help you talk to your mother, get the cure and die a peaceful death to reunite with your one true love, Moira. Whatsay?? Do we have a deal??”

Silas was baffled by the sudden turn of events. Even with his immortality and strength, he seemed powerless now. There was absolute silence for a couple of minutes. Damon and Silas were staring at each other in utmost rage like two ferocious beasts, ready to kill each other.

Jeremy finally broke the silence,

“Guys, Someone else is here with us. Silas, it’s your mother… Queen Andrea-”

Episode 10: "Rendezvous WIth The Past- Part II"

So far on The Vampires
 In My Diaries

The human Katherine returns to Mystic Falls, posing as Elena, and sends Jeremy to prison under false charges.

Katherine is also seen working with Silas for reasons still anonymous.

Elena has been held captive by Silas, while he continues to change appearances every now and then. Damon gets Stefan dug out of the quarry with the help of Sheriff Forbes and her officials.

While Xoro, the leader of the witch tribe from Haiti has the sole motive of lowering the veil to bring back Qetsiyah, Lucy has used this as an opportunity to find a way to bring Bonnie back and to keep her on the side of the living by giving her a permanent foothold.

Esther has sent a message to the other side regarding her visit once the veil is lowered.

Silas has offered a deal to Jeremy and the Salvatore brothers. He wants to talk to someone on the other side by taking Jeremy’s help. In return, he promises to give them Elena back. Despite Damon’s disapproval, Stefan and Jeremy accept the offer.

Silas takes Stefan and Jeremy to his witch friend Joanna’s place to keep his end of the deal- allowing Stefan a glance of Elena. Silas shows them the unconscious Katherine Pierce lying on a bed and fools them into believing that she is Elena Gilbert; the room’s under some spell cast by Joanna which forbids Stefan or Jeremy to get in.

Qetsiyah was narrating her two thousand year old story to Bonnie when she has a visitor from her past- Queen Andrea, Silas’ mother. Her very presence, shakes Qetsiyah from top to bottom.

2000 YEARS AGO

King Demarcus was seated on his throne at the Palace of Alexandria. The court was filled with ministers, courtiers and guests from the nine realms that the King ruled. Sitting beside the King, were Queen Samyra on one side and Queen Aayesha on the other. Qetsiyah stood beside her mother holding the golden armrest of the throne.

“I know about you and Prince Silas, Qetsiyah”, Aayesha said to Qetsiyah in a whisper. Qetsiyah, taken aback by her mother’s directness, could only smile and blush in reply.

“I shall talk to your father and Queen Andrea about you two-“, the Queen promised her daughter. Just then the King stood up to address the courtiers and guests.

“Today is one of the most beautiful day of my life or it is about to be. A month ago, my daughter Moira caught some wild fever for reasons still anonymous. The learned and the Maesters had lost all hopes of curing her until the dear God answered our prayer in the form of Prince Silas-”, the King paused to give Silas a smile.

Silas was sitting among the guests beside his mother, Queen Andrea. He bowed a little in honor of the King.

“I must also mention that the Grand Maesters from all the nine realms had jointly made a prophecy about two fortnights ago. They said that Moira was going to die before the full moon tonight… That she would not live to see the moon reach it’s apex. But this prophecy is about to be wronged. Prince Silas and my younger daughter Qetsiyah had been working on a cure for the past fortnight and as I am told the cure has been made-”. King Demarcus paused to let the murmurs in the court die down.

“I have no words to express my gratitude toward Prince Silas for his unmatched wisdom and benign assistance in saving my daughter’s life. I am indebted to him forever-”

Also I would like to welcome Queen Andrea”, he continued, “the proud mother of Prince Silas who has made her gracious presence to the City of Alexandria upon Prince Silas’ request, especially to witness this historical event. I and the whole City of Alexandria welcome you, Queen Andrea-”. Queen Andrea bowed a little in reply.

“So Prince Silas, are you ready to wrong the prophecy?” The King asked Silas.
Silas stood up, walked to the centre of the court and bowed to the King in honor; to this the King smiled and nodded.

“The cure is ready to be served, my King. But if my King pleases, I would like to be the one who gets to serve Princess Moira with the cure-”

The word ‘serve’ raised a few eyebrows in the court, including that of Queen Andrea. There were a few murmurs which subsequently subsided as the King began to speak.

“I don’t see why that should be un-agreeable. You are always welcome for anything you ask, son”. Just then Queen Andrea stood up to speak.

“My King, my apologies for the intervention but I don’t think serving is a chore befitting the Prince of Rome. Such chores are best left for handmaidens and servants alone”, she said sarcastically.

Silas was shocked at his mother’s interpretation of his request.

“Mother, serving an ill is also considered to be serving God. Would you not agree??” Silas defended himself. This statement hurt Andrea’s prestige even more.

“Silas, I see you have lost your sense of distinguishing between service of God and service of human. I shall not stop you. You are old enough to be making your own decisions but I will share no part in it. My King, I would like to leave for Rome at the break of the dawn, the next day. My son, however, may choose to stay here for so long as he may please-”. Saying so Queen Andrea left the court in rage.

Silas entered the guest room of the Palace of Alexandria. He saw his mother standing at the window, gazing outside at the beautiful gardens, lost in thought.

“Mother-”, he called.

“What is it now Silas?  You have got what you wanted, have you not?”

“Mother, I didn’t mean to hurt your prestige… our prestige. Not for once, I thought-” he couldn’t complete as Andrea intercepted him.

“But you did it anyway. You love her, don’t you? That human… Princess Moira??”

“Mother, I was about to-”

“Do you or do you not?” Andrea was now looking straight into her son’s eyes.

“Yes, I do”.

“And have you for once thought about its consequences? Have you forgotten that
you are a True Blood? Marrying a human would change your entire bloodline. Did you ever give that a thought??”

“Mother, Moira is no ordinary human either. She is stronger… braver than most. She has been fighting death for the last one month and not for once did she give up hope-”

“But that does not change what she is, does it? A human… and we are Witches… the purest of all races… the most powerful of al breeds… We’re True Blood and you want to change all that for just one girl? God, she is no witch but she seems to have cast some spell on you. I would rather have Princess Qetsiyah marry you than to see you around Moira. Not a True Blood though, but Qetsiyah is at least a Witch-”

“Qetsiyah?? Mother, no… but I love Moira??”

“I am sorry son but your love stands nowhere close to the prestige  and honor of our race. I would never allow that-”

Qetsiyah had been silently listening to the mother-son conversation from outside the room. She hid behind the walls to remain unnoticed. Tears were rolling down her cheeks. Without a word, she left.

“Mother, there’s one thing you should know. I couldn’t save Moira through any ordinary spell or herbs. She was doomed to die. So in order to save her she needed to cheat death-”

“Silas, what did you do?”
“That was the only cure I could think of to keep her alive. But in order to be test if the cure was working and that it was absolutely harmless, I had to try it on myself first”

“No, you didn’t-”

“Yes, mother… I did. And I am no longer a witch now. I am no longer a True Blood-”

“No, no, no… this cannot be true. Tell me you are lying… Silas, what have you done?? I shall never forgive you for this…” Her eyes had turned red; hot tears streamed down her cheeks.

“So you pissed off your mom because you were in love with a human?? That’s… weirdo”, said Jeremy. Silas, still posing as Stefan, and Jeremy were sitting on the bed in a bedroom at Joanna’s mansion.

“Yes. Probably more than pissed-”, agreed Silas.

Stefan was in the same room, standing near the window listening to Silas’ story. This tale made him recall his own story- how his father estranged him after he turned into a vampire. In fact, his father was the one who put a bullet into him and Damon while they were trying to rescue Katherine Pierce way back in 1864.

For a second time in the same day, Stefan felt that Silas, though not his doppelganger wasn’t very unlike him.

“Okay”, said Jeremy, “I’d need something to connect to your mother Queen Andrea. Silas, do you have something that belonged to her??”

“I don’t think I have anything that belongs to her. It’s been two thousand years, hunter. You would understand, it’s been a long time. By the way, could you not use me somehow?”

“I could try but can’t promise anything-”, replied Jeremy.

“But Silas, if your mother hates you, why would she come to pay you a visit here?? Why would she help you now when she hasn’t cared a damn about you for two thousand years?? ”

“Because now I am ready to do what she always wanted for me- take the cure, become a witch again and then die to find peace on the other side with Moira”, answered Silas.

“But the cure to immortality is gone. Katherine ingested it-”, reminded Jeremy.

“There is something that you guys need to know. The cure to immortality was made by my mother and Qetsiyah together. They could make it again or my mother could find a way to recover the cure from Katherine’s body-”

“I see now why you were working with Katherine all this time. You want to use her to find a way to recover the cure. But, I’m pretty sure that Katherine doesn’t know about this. Well, what did you offer her as a part of the deal between the two of you??” asked Stefan.

“The one thing she needed the most. Protection. Against her enemies in Mystic Falls-”.

Just then to everyone's utmost surprise, Damon showed up in the room and Silas was taken by surprise. Damon grabbed Silas’ throat and tossed him in the air. Silas collided against the wall and crash-landed on the wooden floor.

“So you played the one girl who has played most of us… bravo!! Now, you weren’t expecting me here, were you??” Damon spoke in his usual charming accent.

“Rebecca, wake up… Rebecca-” Matt Donovan was trying to wake Rebecca Mikaelson who had been unconscious for some time now as she had not had a taste of blood ever since she and Matt had been taken captives by the tribal witch community in the woods of Haiti.

“Aghhhh… ughhhh…”, she groaned as she eventually gained consciousness.

“Becca, they’re gone… the tribesmen. Listen to me, I got an idea…”, said Matt in a low tone.

“Ah, what?? What idea?? What are you talking about??”

“Rebecca, you can save us both. You’re weak now because you haven’t fed for days and you were given several doses of vervain. But what if you get enough blood to bring back your strength?? Don’t you think you could break these chains?”

“Yes, Matt. I think I can... But how do I feed?”

“Feed on me”

“What?? Matt, have you gone crazy?? No way… so this was your idea??”

“Yes, Rebecca. Feed on me. I’ve done it before with Elena. I’ll be fine.Think about it. What other option are we left with?”

“But, Matt-“

“Just do it, Rebecca. We’re losing time. Xoro and the tribesmen might return any minute”. After long denial, finally Rebecca agreed upon the idea.

Matt wriggled to move a little closer to Rebecca and offered his neck. Rebecca began feeding slowly at first, savoring every drop as each drop count. Soon she lost control and succumbed to her hunger.

“Aghhhh…”, Matt cried of pain.

“Rebecca stop.. Stop now-”, he protested but she couldn’t stop. Matt was fast losing his consciousness due to the blood loss.

“Rebecca-”, he cried one last time. She stopped just in time to prevent Matt from falling unconscious. Matt, though conscious, felt dizzy.

Rebecca wiped the blood off her mouth. Next, she tore out a piece of her dress to wrap around his neck so as to check the blood flow.

“Matt, are you alright? I almost killed you”, she asked desperately.

“Yeah, yeah… I’m… I’m fine. Did you have enough??”

“I don’t know-”

Just then, they heard some footsteps approaching. Half a dozen absolute strangers walked in and stood before them.

“Now, who the hell are you people??” Rebecca asked them. A stout, bald man stepped forward.

“Rebecca Mikaelson, I’m Joshua Garfield. We’re friends of your mother’s. Esther had sent us a message from the other side. She will soon visit you-”, said the bald man.

“What is this supposed to mean?” asked Rebecca puzzled by his words.

“Esther wants to come over to this side when the veil goes down tomorrow night. As the madmen from Haiti are taking care of the difficult part… I mean lowering the veil part, we are only left with invoking your mother’s spirit to this side like they are going to do with Qetsiyah. And Esther will walk right through-”, saying so Joshua smiled.

“What the hell’s wrong with you witches. Aren’t you supposed to restore the balance of nature?”

“That’s all we’re trying to do here- restoring the balance…
